faceless burial - speciation

what a splendid record by this australian three-piece! old school death metal with a technical edge to it. i love ot from front to back and am happy that was able to get a copy of the limited first press colour-way. released by u.k. based label me saco un ojo records.

spawn of possession - incurso

i am pretty pissed that i missed out on buying this re-release and the bands sophomore record "noctambulant" through the label when they wold have been pricey but affordable. nowadays copies on discogs and the like go through the roof. i managed to snag this one from discogs as well but for a justifyable price. dazzling technical death metal which is only rivalled by mighty obscura themselves in my opinion. initially released on cd by relapse records in 2012 and re-released on vinyl by the artisan era in 2019.

blut aus nord - hallucinogen

black metal is usually not my cup of tea but this semi-instrumental masterpiece of atmospheric black metal-weirdness is an exception for sure! just check them out, i lack the words to describe them. what an outstanding presentation by debemur morti productions. top notch in all details!

mortuous - through wilderness

a fierce slab of old school death metal like it is pretty popular these days. very solid job by this american horde. i have the u.s. second pressing on blue/black merge out of 300 copies through carbonized records and the u.s. tape first pressing with gold shell released through tank crime and carbonized records.

year of the knife - internal incarceration

pure noise records was reviving my fire for hardcore last year. stunning records by bands like knocked loose, sanction or chamber were released by this american label and really connected with me. this debut full length by u.s.a. based year of the knife is another banger under their banner. ferocious and heavy metallic hardcore that doesn't let up for a second. blood red/bone galaxy vinyl limited to 500 copies.

void rot - descending pillars

if you're into death doom and bands like mortiferum or spectral voice, then this here is for you. bleak, dark and kiloton heavy - this record is a trip through the dark aspects of the human psyche like no other. oxblood/bone galaxy pressing limited to 150 copies and released through everlasting spew records in 2020.

odious mortem - synesthesia

this album didn't click with me at first glance. that was because initially i couldn't comprehend the complexity. after a few tries, i was so intrigued that i had to get the wax. bought this via amazon and got the lesser limited random colour mix, which looks really good though. lovely pink marble out of 330 copies. check out this gritty tech death beast of an album! willowtip records. 2020.

sutrah - dunes

just another tech death pearl through the artisan era records. don't know where they dig up those great bands but sutrah - boy, they're mind-bending. their music struck a nerve with me just like greats such as obscura, beyond creation or nile did. this album is top tier tech death, believe me! love this crazy vinyl variant, like spitten from fire. originally released in 2017, pressed to vinyl in 2020.

ecostrike - a truth we still believe

vegan straight edge hardcore galore and brilliant strife worship. a banger all the way through. triple-b records. 2020.

animals as leaders - the joy of motion (merge vinyl version)

animals as leaders are one of my favourite bands. their blend of artistically instrumental djent sourcery is unmatched. this third album here was the only one missing in my collection. so when re-presses were announced in late 2019, i jumped right on them. actually ordered the splatter version since this one was some physical store exclusive. a mix-up in my favour, i guess :-) sumerian records.

artificial brain - infrared horizon

man, i love this album. i criminally overlooked this band and just got into them around the end of the last year. perfect technical, avantgarde death metal. sometmes they remind me of a tech death version of converge with guttural vocals. check them out! i cross my fingers for colour re-issues of their records! released on profound lore records in 2017.

eximperitus - projecting the singular emission of the doctrine of absolute and all-absorbing evil...

crazy extreme death metal band from belarus. their name is written in dead, ancient languages from the east and has fifty or so letters, conveniently shortened to eximperitus. great stuff here on their 2016 debut on rotten roll rex records from germany, only the production seems not well balanced. their new effort is due to be released this month through willowtip records - can't wait.
