aethereus - leiden
the title of aethereus latest full length 'leiden' is the german word for suffering. listening to this album is the very opposite. such a great prog/tech death piece. abyss variant limited to 100 copies. the artisan era. 2022.

arkaik - labyrinth of hungry ghosts
five years after "nemethia", arkaik are finally back with a new slab of quality tech death. they moved from unique leader records to the artisan era which resulted in a scarce availability for us europeans. bought this for big bucks through amazon which was fine by me. with shipping from the states it would have been the same price but i was able to avoid the painful long shipping process.

inanimate existence - the masquerade
very happy to have been able to buy this from a european source to avoid those damn shipping costs and risks from the states. found this to my surprise on amazon germany. least limited colour-way but frankly i don't give a shit. great tech death record of a band that really developed into their own kind of monster. ritual variant limited to 450 copies. the artisan era. 2022.

aethereus - absentia (green splatter vinyl)
i already have this baby on the transparent sea blue variant which was less limited and kind of the distro edition. so it was way easier to get but also more boring compared to the two more limited variants. when i ordered the severed savior and the diskreet vinyl lately, i couldn't say no to this super nice green splatter edition. great eerie prog/tech death metal by these u.s. dudes. limited to 125 copies.
diskreet - engage the mechanicality
another blast from the past brought back to vinyl by the artisan era. malcolm pugh - guitarist in inferi, sole member of a loathing requiem and co-owner of the artisan era - played the six (or seven) strings in diskreet back in 2010 which might have something to do with this re-press. anyway, album is a scorcher. grave variant is limited to 100 copies.
severed savior - servile insurrection
the artisan era does not only a great job pumping out new quality tech death but also gracing older releases with a deserved vinyl treatment. spawn of possession or a loathing requiem comes to my mind here. severed savior's sophomore album "servile insurrection" is one of those gems. originally released in 2008, this album is complex and catchy at the same time. like it a lot. insurrection variant limited to 100 copies.

sutrah - aletheia
their debut "dunes" has become one of my all time favourite tech death releases and thus i needed this e.p. badly. for me those four songs tick all the right boxes. melodic, eerie, heavy, sophisticated - what's not to like here? limited to 100 copies on "archetype" vinyl. released in 2020 by the artisan era.
myth of i
the self-titled debut of u.s. based myth of i is a super talented and beautifully executed proggy instrumental metal album of the highest order. yeah, the similarities to animals as leaders are definitely there but they are going to perfect their own sound with future releases, i'm sure of it. check this great artwork and the nice green/white merge vinyl out of 100 copies. released in 2020 by the artisan era.

enfold darkness - adversary omnipotent
the last record of my the artisan era batch. enfold darkness is a symphonic technical death metal band and their shit is right up my alley. if you like dimmu borgir and have also a heart for bands like obscura or beyond creation than this is for you. pretty slick artwork and awesome vinyl pressing (sacred variant limited to 100 copies) round out the package.
a loathing requiem - acolytes eternal
when i grabbed a copy of the predecessor "psalms of misanthropy", i couldn't leave "acolytes eternal" sitting in the digital store. the follow-up came to life in 2015 and is not quite as goog as "psalms..." in my opinion. still a wild trip through death metal's extreme ends and if you like stuff on the artisan era in general, you won't be disappointed by "acolytes eternal". constellation variant limited to 100 copies.

a loathing requiem - psalms of misanthropy
actually never heard of this band before when i stumbled upon the vinyl editions over at the artisan era. found out that this is a one-man project by inferi guitarist malcolm pugh. he wrote this album in 2010 already and last year it saw the vinyl treatment. pretty good tech death which was too good to pass on it. nice colour-way (firestorm variant) too and limited to 100 copies.

spawn of possession - incurso
i am pretty pissed that i missed out on buying this re-release and the bands sophomore record "noctambulant" through the label when they wold have been pricey but affordable. nowadays copies on discogs and the like go through the roof. i managed to snag this one from discogs as well but for a justifyable price. dazzling technical death metal which is only rivalled by mighty obscura themselves in my opinion. initially released on cd by relapse records in 2012 and re-released on vinyl by the artisan era in 2019.

sutrah - dunes
just another tech death pearl through the artisan era records. don't know where they dig up those great bands but sutrah - boy, they're mind-bending. their music struck a nerve with me just like greats such as obscura, beyond creation or nile did. this album is top tier tech death, believe me! love this crazy vinyl variant, like spitten from fire. originally released in 2017, pressed to vinyl in 2020.

immanifest - macrobial
the artisan era has a great roster. bands such as inferi and inanimate existence and their releases are constant guests on my turntable. so everytime they put out something new, i check it out. when i heard the first tunes of florida based immanifest i was sold right away.
they play that brand of tech death which is almost typical for the artisan era but there is more to it. especially the keyboards remind me heaps of "spiritial black dimensions" and "puritanical euphoric misanthropia" era dimmu borgir. if you like symphonic death metal, then you should give it a try at least. 300 copies made as "spirit" variant. the artisan era. 2019.
