was looking for a copy ever since i learned about the band and now i finally copped this recent re-issue. handy compilation of the band's first two e.p.'s. 1.500 copies made. pure noise records. 2019/2022.

i don't like the production sound of the album at all and the more straight forward hardcore of the preceeding records is more to my liking, BUT this still rips! revelation records hq exclusive variant on clear yellow w/ black splatter vinyl out of 500 copies. pure noise records. 2024.

this album slaps so hard. can't get enough of it. 1.050 copies made on beautiful purple/bone galaxy vinyl. pure noise. 2023.

chamber - a love to kill for

boy, this american hardcore doesn't cease to amaze me. they're playing this style of hc essentially right. hope to catch them live some day. 1150 copies made on smokey clear w/ yellow splatter vinyl. pure noise records. 2023.

the latest full length of this straight edge powerhouse. they don't disappoint, i tell ya! orange, white and black galaxy vinyl out of a shitload of 1.700 copies. looking good and all. pure noise records. 2022.

brilliant mosh induced straight edge hardcore from the states. reminds me of early 00's deathwish stuff like reign supreme or early blacklisted. love the pinwheel vinyl, too. 750 copies made of the third pressing. pure noise records. 2019/2021.

constantly evolving their hefty hardcore sound, the buzz this band's creating couldn't be more justified. this new e.p. is a beast and this second pressing on grey marble a.k.a. silver, black, white galaxy looks ace. 3.000 copies pressed. pure noise recordings. 2021/22.

sanction - the infringement of god's plan

sanction are one of those hardcore/metal bands that revive the sound of the late nineties and early 00's. clean, slightly chaotic, mosh part induced. i really love that and this e.p. kicks ass! released in 2018 by pure noise records. this is a copy of the silver second pressing out of 800.

chamber - cost of sacrifice

my favourite album of 2020, hands down. chamber really hits that late nineties to early 00's slightly chaotic hardcore nail right on the head. just perfect, nothing less. this beautiful cloudy blood vinyl pressing is limited to 450 copies and released by pure noise records in 2020.

year of the knife - internal incarceration

pure noise records was reviving my fire for hardcore last year. stunning records by bands like knocked loose, sanction or chamber were released by this american label and really connected with me. this debut full length by u.s.a. based year of the knife is another banger under their banner. ferocious and heavy metallic hardcore that doesn't let up for a second. blood red/bone galaxy vinyl limited to 500 copies.

sanction - broken in refraction

there's a certain late nineties/early 00's chaotic hardcore revival going on right now and pure noise records are on the forefront of that wave. next to chamber there is also sanction among their roster.

this u.s.a. based band sounds like a darker brother of snapcase and that's definitely a good thing. also i love the artwork which screams nineties. i snagged the ultra clear with black and mint splatter vinyl version which is the most common one, i think. looks pretty good anyway. pure noise records. 2019.

knocked loose - laugh tracks

after "a different shade of blue" left its mark in my auditory canals, i was bound to get a copy of the debut "laugh tracks". jpc.de got me covered here. and boy this thing rips. maybe i enjoy it even a bit more than the follow up.

knocked loose plays a type of beatdown hardcore that really resonates with me although i am actually not too much a fan of this type of hc. when i ordered i hoped for a recent repress on striped vinyl. it turned out to be a copy of the third(?) pressing on clear purple. i like it more and more though. 1.000 copies made. pure noise records. 2018. 

chamber - ripping/pulling/tearing

boy, what a scorcher this is. i stumbled upon the cover art when checking the pure noise roster. in a way i felt reminded of the caliban cover for "shadow hearts" (which is a banger as well). i checked them out and knew i had to get this.

this is a perfect mix of early 00's chaotic hardcore and mainly metalcore. a time the word "metalcore" didn't leave a bad taste in mouth like in the mid and late 00's. perfect e.p., give me more of that, chamber! pure noise records. 2019.

knocked loose - a different shade of blue

ok, i didn't see that coming. knocked loose is a contemporary hardcore band that was kicking up a lot of dust lately. i saw many pictures on the net of folks going crazy about collecting all the vinyl variants, which are quite a few. those pictures came up so consistently that i began to ask myself, if i should take the effort and check them out.

i hit up youtube and was amazed by the raw energy the band gets across. they include a lot of heavy breakdowns in their sound but really to pick up the vibe of the song and emphasise the groove and not for the sake of the breakdown alone. really good stuff, sometimes the singer's voice is a notch too high pitched but that is just a minor complaint. nice clear with multi-blue splatter vinyl out of 4.000(!) copies. pure noise records. 2019.

terror - total retaliation (tape)

i probably said it before and still my interest in new hardcore stuff is, let's say limited. i don't care much for new albums of old bands and even less for new albums of new bands. usually the only thing that awakens my interest are re-pressings of old stuff which i still need for the collection. same problem with the latest terror record. to me their fifth full length "keepers of the faith was their musical climax. the successors "live by the code" and "the twenty fifth hour" are good blasts of hardcore but couldn't come close and thus didn't get much play time on my turntable in the past.

so when their 2018 record "total retaliation" was announced and ready for pre-order, i shrugged my shoulders and moved on. fast forward a few months and i was in search for a tape of an album i will write about in the next post. the best way for to get it with reasonable shipping costs, was to use the rev hq service from coretex records from berlin and order stuff from the revelation webshop through this fine record store.

browsing through the tape section of rev, i came across the cassette version of terror's new album. the price was the half of the vinyl version and so i thought it was a good idea to add it to the order. i don't regret that move at all. "total retaliation" is another proof that old hardcore dudes don't lose a bit of their fury with advancing age. we'll see if it stands the test of time and gets more air time than the last two records. i read somewhere this version is limited to 100 copies but i am not sure about that. pure noise records. 2018.
