in circles - void of illusion

it has been over a year by now that wrote about in circles' 7" 'reverie cult'. i obtained 'void of illusion' even before that and now i am finally coming around to post this up. just like 'reverie cult' i found this slab of wax at burnout record store, hamburg. as it was out on worship records, which also released stuff of avalanche and coldburn that i have in my collection, i was curious as to what this would sound like.
i threw it on the turntable in the store and was pleasantly surprised at the sound the needle transferred into the head phones on my ears. modern hardcore with a dark edge to it. thus there were no questions about my further actions. by now the label defunct, which is a shame because, as far as i can tell, they always did a nice job on their releases.
no exception here. lovely matte card for the cover and nice white marbled vinyl make for a great finish of the whole look. worship pressed two colour-ways. 100 copies on orange and 200 on this white vinyl. if you now want to scratch the itch of listening to this band, their bandcamp has you covered. green hell even has copies left. worship records. 2012.

scarred mind - heavy mental

scarred mind is or was a hardcore band from the düsseldorf area. i am not really sure about the current status of them. when i gathered information for this post i checked their facebook page and the last activities there are a year old by now. but no hiatus or split entry on the page or something. mysterious. we will see what the future brings.
musically scarred mind delivers snotty and no-frills nyhc in the vein of newer bands like backtrack or expire. i really dig it. so i hope they come back soon. i could use some more stuff like this. in the meantime check out this release in its whole glory at the label's bandcamp page.
speaking of, the label worship records, which comes from my area, hamburg to be precise, seems also to be defunct. so i didn't find any shop of them where the interested reader could score a copy. just take one from per koro instead. unfortunately i was unable to get any pressing information. the whole pressing seems to come on clear vinyl, though. worship records. 2012.

avalanche - thanatos 7"

i am not that much aware of what worship records from germany are doing. i have one release of them and that is the first coldburn 7" i purchased last year. but my attention was drawn to this release because of coldburn (they released an album and i wanted to have their earlier stuff) and not because of the label. with that in mind, or better not in mind, i searched through the disributed titles at take it back records, because i wanted to add some to the unveil 7".
the first name that striked my eyes was avalanche with their first 7" called 'thanatos'. the description said coloured vinyl and the cover art looked interesting, so i checked their bandcamp. these guys are hailing from vienna, austria and playing a mixture of crusty hardcore and doom metal. usually i'm not really into doom stuff. i find it too slow most of the time. but avalanche got a stronger hardcore edge and man, they're just sharp! check them!
the record comes in a nice glue-pocket-sleeve with an insert. the vinyl colour is really great. reminds me a bit of the congress 'euridium' 7". the clear purple vinyl has some green streaks through it and is really an eye-catcher. 'thanatos' was co-released by worship records and green menace records from sweden. 150 were pressed on purple vinyl by worship and, i suppose, 150 on green vinyl by green menace. 2012.

coldburn big cartel

coldburn - hybris 7"
coldburn are a young band from leipzig, germany. by the time i was living in leipzig i heard nothing of that band. but maybe they didn't existed when i left town, 2010 that was. anyway, i check the cobra records site from time to time and came across a pre-order for their latest output 'the harsh fangs of life' of which i will post soon. i checked their stuff at bandcamp and was blown away by the song 'love left me'. if you like stuff in the vein of naysayer, final prayer, backtrack, downpresser and and and... check it and get it!
after informing myself about other releases i hit their big cartel shop and ordered one of the last copies of their first 7", called 'hybris'. lucky me!
lovely cover art work. reminds me of terror's 'always the hard way'. actually i don't know which piece of art they used as cover here. maybe someone adept in art can shed some light?
the 7" comes in a fold around piece of thick cardboard. looks nice! the record itself is on bottle clear vinyl. you can download this release at their bandcamp site.
