the carrier - no love can save me

i really like the carrier. that being said i snagged copies of their two full lenghts pretty early when i got into record collecting. i love those two albums and therefore i made a mental note to get their two 7"es when given the chance to. well, i wasn't that straightforward when it came to set that plan into action.
if i really wanted it and pursued the purchase consistently, i could have hold a copy in hands way earlier. anyway, i recently got one of those discogs messages where they told me that a copy was available for a decent price and i finally pulled the trigger on it. the seller came from europe and so shipping was reasonable too.
the three songs on this plastic platter are just what i love about the carrier. melancholic intensity with the raw energy that is hardcore. simply a great band. a shame that they called it a day in 2012. now i need to chase that first self-titled 7" from 2007. this one here is limited to 1000 copies on grey vinyl. deathwish inc. 2008.

per koro pt. 1/2: the carrier - blind to what is right

the carrier - blind to what is right
it seems ages ago that i bought the first album of the carrier called 'one year later...'. actually it was last year in march, so not that long. but long enough to me because from the point on i had 'one year later' i wanted 'blind to what is right' too. in 2012 the release of 'btwir' was already over a year ago and still available at per koro so i figured it would also be available at some other point of '12. as i mentioned before if i feel that there is a constant availabilty of a record i don't feel the urge to pull the trigger immediately. if there is other stuff that i think to be more urgent i will always put these records aside. the very thing happened here. i didn't throw this in my cart because i thought i could get one at any time.
and in a rare case like this i was right with that. so i ordered my coloured copy of 'btwir' hassle-free from per koro. the music is pretty awesome. if you know them you know what you're going to get. only better than on 'one year later'. if you do not know them let me tell you that the carrier play some intense melodic hardcore. more fast then slow and with propensity to frantic melodies. check out the song 'hollow pain', one of my favourites. i think that the carrier play this style with a big recall value. a factor that not much bands in this genre can claim for themselves. while european bands like empty handed, the cold harbour, cannoneer or foxxes sound pretty similar the carrier manages to stay original.
the record appeared on deathwish records and the first pressing came with 2000 copies. there are 300 on cream w/ maroon swirl vinyl, 700 on pink w/ maroon swirl vinyl and 1000 on cream w/ pink swirl vinyl. obviously i have a copy of the last colour out of 1000. that is ok with me as this colour way looks pretty cool. almost like it's edible... tasty! somehow i like the gatefold sleeve although a normal sleeve would have been appropriate too as there is not much artwork on the inner sleeve. comes with digital download.

per koro: terror, awaken demons, 50 lions, the carrier

this is actually my first post of an order that i really recieved in march 2012 :) so, now the more or less "real-time" documentation starts ;-)

terror - the damned, the shamed
as said before i'm not a big picture disc worshipper. just like in this case i hate the missing of a cardboard sleeve! but with the admittedly good looking disc comes a big fold out poster that also functions as a back cover. so nevertheless i like it...
reaper records

awaken demons - the mirror
like so many other bands out there i knew the band by name for quite a while but never was really interested enough to listen to them. a mistake as it appears :) pretty good tough guy hardcore with straight edge attitude! just my taste :) i found this on sale at per koro.
marbled solid green vinyl. trustkill records

50 lions - time is the enemy
as mentioned before the sophomore release "where life expires" really gets me going :) so i just had to have this first album and it's quite as good as the second record. out on demons run amok entertainment with a nice gatefold sleeve and clear red vinyl with two or three black speckles :)

the carrier - one year later
passionate hardcore with a melancholic melody edge to it. reminds me a bit of new carpathian stuff or the ghost inside. good stuff!
opaque neon yellow vinyl + gatefold cover + digital download. deathwish records
