intronaut - prehistoricisms

i had this album on my wantlist for quite some time. since recently there was a white vinyl century media pressing from 2008 and this blue vinyl pressing by german label back bite records from 2018 (in terms of colour vinyl). last year the label 'reissued sounds' threw a bunch of new splatter vinyl pressings on the market and that seemed to lower the asking prices, at least for the back bite version. it was an offer i couldn't refuse and now i'm the proud owner of one out of 100 blue vinyl copies of 'prehistoricisms'. back bite records. 2018.

intronaut - the direction of last things

another crucial intronaut re-press for me. had the chance to score a mint/black splatter copy in the past but missed it like a fool. thankfully svart records came to my rescue. although i don't really understand the choice of vinyl colours here. looks lovely nonetheless. opaque purple vinyl out of 999 copies. originally released by century media in 2015. svart records. 2022.

intronaut - habitual levitations

i am missing quite a few intronaut full lengths and so i am always on the lookout for 2nd hand copies but the right item never came my way. i was really surprised when i came across this new pressing from "habitual levitations". how did i miss this? svart records got the liscence for a re-press and i was happy to snag one up! clear green vinyl out of 999 copies. originally released by century media in 2013. svart records. 2022.

intronaut - fluid existential inversions

to my shame i am not too familiar with the intronaut discography. the only other record i own of them is "valley of smoke". although I think that said album is outstandingly good and so it was a no-brainer to pre-order their new effort " fluid existential inversions". i went for this nice mint green marble double lp edition.

i think this colour-way looks way better than the most limited (out of 100 copies) - a  transparent red/blue marble - so no regrets that i bought this one. musically the album needed a few spins with me but now i'm hooked. crazy metal/jazz/whatever weirdness. love it! cut at 45rpm. metal blade. 2020.

intronaut - valley of smoke

intronaut was a bit of dark horse to me. i tried to get into them previously. since they were on lifeforce records with their first album "void" back in 2006 and i used to listen to all what the label released, i checked a few tunes (i think i downloaded an mp3 from the label site - jesus, like in the stone age). but back then i wasn't ready and four years ago when century media released "the direction of last things" i didn't understand them.

how come i got "valley of smoke" on vinyl now? well, i bought the latest integrity re-press of "to die for", which was released by the german d.i.y. label backbite records, directly from the label's shop. browsing through the shop i saw that backbite also re-released two intronaut albums. i was interested and when i checked "valley of smoke" on the tube it finally clicked with me. unfortunately all the colour copies were sold out.

in such cases discogs is the first address for used copies. backbite has also a discogs store, or better the physical record store which is run by the dude who also runs backbite has a discogs store. strangely there were copies available and via a make-an-offer option i was able to lower the price to an appropriate bargain. the album itself is fantastic. progressivity, simplicity and atmosphere are forged into an unstoppable beast. love it! 100 copies on brown vinyl. they turned out a bit dark. actually released in 2010 on century media. backbite records. 2018.
