turmoil - anchor

not long ago jake was writing about his copy of turmoil's 'anchor' 7" and how his children go crazy to the music, haha. well, after that it came to my mind that i have to write about it myself, because i have a copy sitting on my shelf since last year's february. so here it is. picking up turmoil releases is always a no-brainer to me when they cross my path.
as this 7" was released on century media and this is a german label, it was relatively easy for me to obtain this for a very good price. copies pop up every once in a while on the bay and this is where i got this sucker from. music-wise this baby is really a strong pack. four songs of that typical heavy and slightly chaotic metallic hardcore.
'killing today for a better tomorrow' and 'staring back' were also featured on 1999's album 'the process of' later on, but check out the complete release, anyway. the cover photo is good hardcore standard. the pressing came on two colours, i believe. black vinyl and white vinyl. unfortunately i couldn't find any pressing information on the net. century media. 1997.

turmoil - the process of

turmoil is one of those bands that i think got lesser attention than they deserved. maybe i am wrong because they have been releasing stuff through century media, which is a rather big label, but it seems that turmoil always comes second compared to other metallic hardcore bands of the nineties, bands such as earth crisis, snapcase or strife. whatever it might have been or if it even was that way at all, i really like turmoil.
i have two 7"es of them, 'who says time heals all wounds' and 'anchor'. i didn't post about the latter one yet but coincidentally my mate jake did a few days before. as i have a lot of love for those two 7"es it was clear that i also wanted their full length from the last year of the bygone century. unfortunately i could never make it happen, not until this year in cologne's finest record shop called underdog store.
somehow the re-press of 2014 by escapist records from the states completely passed me by. so i was quite surprised to find a coloured version sitting at underdog. especially on a colour i never saw before. i grabbed the record without hestitation and made it mine. later i found out that escapist did a fifteen years anniversary pressing with original artwork and an insert with some personal impressions of persons related to the release and/or band in one form or another. only downer is the super flimsy cover. 327 copies on clear gold. escapist records. 2014.

turmoil - who says time heals all wounds

one of the records from the vault. according to the pictures i made of it, this baby found its way into my hands last year's october. so it's waiting to be written about for over half a year now. but anyway, here we are. turmoil was one of the many hardcore bands of the nineties that played a metal orientated style, also known as crossover. next to earth crisis and strife, turmoil is my favourite band of that era playing this style.
in 1994 turmoil released two 7"es. 'fragments of suffering' on harvest records and this one here on century media. both releases share the songs 'walk away' and 'contain'. don't know the story behind that or which release came earlier. if you know, don't hestitate and leave an enlightening comment. musically this is just the right aggressive stuff you need to forget your everyday life and tear the concert room apart with your friends. unfortunately that won't happen anytime soon as turmoil called it a day in 2000.
but who knows, other bands did re-unite too. until that i'll chase their vinyl output on ebay. so occured with this blue copy of 'who says...'. i think i won this for two or three bucks and the condition the 7" is in, is flawless. century media did a black pressing too but i don't know about numbers in both cases. century media. 1994.
