jeff rosenstock - post- (tape)

since i really fell in love with rosenstock's second full length "we cool?" and was also able to add the superb "worry." to the collection, i had to make a serious move towards his latest effort "post-" from 2018. the record was released on first of january of the bygone year, so when i began looking for it, it was already over one year old and therefore all fancy colour vinyl was sold out at the german distros.
so when i was browsing the rev hq tape section, i was delighted to see that they still had the cassette version in stock. so via coretex records from berlin i was able to order that album without ugly oversea shipping rates. the tape looks lovely. a silver-lined clear blue shell and a nice j-card with all lyrics and production credits on the inside. musically you won't be disappointed if you liked the predecessors. melodic and snotty indie punk rock with fantastic lyrics. polyvinyl records. 2018.

jeff rosenstock - worry.

after i really fell in love with the snotty, musical sophistication that is "we cool?", i wanted more of jeff rosenstock's recorded stuff. the first record i came across, was the "worry." lp. it is the follow-up to "we cool?" and came out in 2015. it was pretty much on the cheap side but i was actually looking for some early pressings, as they seemed to have the cooler colour configurations.
i landed at the finest vinyl page and found a copy on clearance with the information that it was a baby blue and pink merge copy. yeah, that sounded good and so i ordered it. a few days later it arrived and it turned out to be one of the latest pressings on ultra clear vinyl. so i e-mailed the mailorder with the plea to return the copy as it wasn't the one i actually ordered. i got no response whatsoever and as i didn't care too much, i just kept the record.
instead i make bad advertisement for the mailorder (fuck finest vinyl!) and will never order from them again. the album is pretty sweet, though. urban gentrification and social inequalities are the main topics lyrically and musically this is just the fantastic mix of punk, pop, alternative rock and singer-songwriter music that made me rave about rosenstock's "we cool?" album before. lovely! fourth pressing out of 1.000 copies. sideonedummy records. 2015/2017.

jeff rosenstock - we cool?

the second record i got for christmas from my brother-in-law was the most surprising, yet the most gratifying this year. i only briefly heard of jeff rosenstock and again it was the one who gave me this record who told me about it. my brother-in-law said that he thinks this record is essential for any self-respecting record collection, still i needed a kick to the head in the shape of the physical vinyl to finally get me into jeff rosenstock.
what can i say? "we cool?" is a fantastic punk rock record and i love it. i think it should be part of any self-respecting record collection. tons of great hooks, beautiful melodies, the right dosage of anarchy and those snotty, self-ironic and honest lyrics about depressions - all of this make for a remarkable album all around. everyone into hardcore punk stuff like h2o, ignite or a bit ska punk like the mighty mighty bosstones should give jeff a try.
the album was released in 2015 on side one dummy records and quote unquote records. never heard of these labels, though. but the fact that this record is still in press and actually in its fourth pressing, proves the success the record was and is for the label. i really dig the cover art. with its aesthetics it reminded me of pink floyd's "wish you were here". white vinyl out of i don't know how many copies. 2015/2018.
