avalanche - interstellar movement

avalanche is a sludge metal band from vienna, austria. i already have their two releases before this full length here. those were just three and five song e.p.'s and already seven and six years old. so a lot of time went by and i thought the guys called it a day. the more i was surprised when i stumbled upon this record when checking the wooaaargh records shop.
what actually made me check out this album in particular was the cover art. as there is no band logo or so on the cover i wasn't aware that the band at hand was avalanche when i clicked it. i think the original painting is oil on canvas and just looks awesome. musically avalanche picked up where they left off with "thanatos" in 2012. rock solid sludge metal with a hardcore edge to it. check them here. 313 copies made. wooaaargh. 2019.

avalanche - among beasts

in last year's december i wrote about avalanche's debut 7" called 'thanatos' and released on worship records. as you might are aware of, my mailorder of trust - per koro - functions also as a label on its own. markus/per koro puts out some real quality stuff and therefore i bought a lot of per koro releases in the past. withers, iron heel, deathrite and so on and so forth. man, i really loved 'thanatos' so naturally i was pleasantly surprised as i got to know about this release.
'among beasts' is basically a re-press of their demo from 2010. this demo was also called 'among beasts' but was self-released and came out on cassette only. the first three songs are from the said demo, come in a re-mastered version and then you get two more songs, of which i don't know the origin of. probably exclusively written for this lp-release or some more songs from the vault. doesn't matter anyway because the musical content rips. not as good as 'thanatos' but extremely worth picking up. check out 'nebuchadnezzar'. dirty doom/sludge/hardcore worship.
the packaging is real nice here. you get a screen-printed fold-around cover on nice thick cardboard, a thick paper insert with all the necessary information concerning this out-put, black dust sleeve with an attached download code and a lovely screen-printed b-side. yeah, good stuff! numbered out of 300 copies. mine is #279. get on it, copies still available. per koro. 2013.

avalanche - thanatos 7"

i am not that much aware of what worship records from germany are doing. i have one release of them and that is the first coldburn 7" i purchased last year. but my attention was drawn to this release because of coldburn (they released an album and i wanted to have their earlier stuff) and not because of the label. with that in mind, or better not in mind, i searched through the disributed titles at take it back records, because i wanted to add some to the unveil 7".
the first name that striked my eyes was avalanche with their first 7" called 'thanatos'. the description said coloured vinyl and the cover art looked interesting, so i checked their bandcamp. these guys are hailing from vienna, austria and playing a mixture of crusty hardcore and doom metal. usually i'm not really into doom stuff. i find it too slow most of the time. but avalanche got a stronger hardcore edge and man, they're just sharp! check them!
the record comes in a nice glue-pocket-sleeve with an insert. the vinyl colour is really great. reminds me a bit of the congress 'euridium' 7". the clear purple vinyl has some green streaks through it and is really an eye-catcher. 'thanatos' was co-released by worship records and green menace records from sweden. 150 were pressed on purple vinyl by worship and, i suppose, 150 on green vinyl by green menace. 2012.
