antagonist a.d. - through fire all things are renewed

the latest antagonist album from 2022 passed me by completely. when i came across the band's online shop lately and spotted the re-issue of 'nothing from no one', my eyes also gazed upon sweet vinyl editions of 'through fire...'. in the end i opted for the black/gold galaxy pressing, which looks really nice in my book. musically this is the energetic and relentless metalcore i've expected. class record by the lads with hm2 buzzsaw sound. 150 copies pressed. greyscale records. 2022.

antagonist a.d. - nothing from no one

i feel like these guys from new zealand don't get the recognition they deserve. top notch metallic hardcore with a message. gotta love that. this is the first vinyl pressing of their third full length 'nothing from no one'. i still have the cd from 2012 (on mediaskare records) but of course, the vinyl is a most welcomed upgrade. self released by the band and limited to 200 copies on clear w/ black and orange splatter vinyl. 2012/2022.

motörhead - orgasmatron

i searched quite a long time for an original 80's copy complete with insert. i came across so many without the insert, that i'm guessing there actually was a pressing not including the lyric sheet. anyways, i got this full fledged copy for a nice price.

musically 'orgasmatron' comes with a strong opener ('deaf forever') but the rest can't really pick up where the first track left off. still motörhead, so still fucking cool. european pressing distributed by roadrunner records. gwr records. 1986.

integrity/hatebreed - split 7"

this 7" is pretty much just a collector's item. two short songs and the hatebreed part of the split can also be found on the full length 'satisfaction is the death of desire'. that's why i never pursued getting a copy but this one fell into my lap, so to speak.

this 7" was released via stillborn records, jamey jasta's own record label. i read a story that jasta urged integrity to do this split, because he was such big integ fan. true or not, i love lore like that. stillborn records. 1997.

dimmu borgir - grand serpent rising

wow, this new dimmu album absolutely shreds. i mean, i enjoyed 'eonian' but i didn't expect them to return to form of old deeds like 'abrahadabra' or 'in sorte diaboli'. it won't land in my top three dimmu albums but still, i really like it. the vinyl colour is quite fancy, too. depending on the angle you hold it to light, a turquoise shimmer emerges. 1.000 copies pressed. nuclear blast. 2026.

spirit adrift - infinite illumination

the swansong of spirit adrift and its mastermind, founder and part-time sole member nate garrett. the band had many incarnations and this last album is no different.

still there was a musical common thread tied together by garrett. 'infinite illumination' is a worthy farewell leaned towards the doomier end of the spectrum. neon green vinyl out of who-knows-how-many copies. 20 buck spin. 2026.

the mighty mighty bosstones - more noise and other disturbances

i'm not really a ska fan but the bosstones always had enough hardcore punk credibility to make me enjoy them. i own a few of their albums on cd already and thought it was about time to upgrade to vinyl. bought this excellent first press copy via online 2nd hand retailer recordsale.de. taang! records. 1992.

ozzy osbourne - bark at the moon (u.s. pressing)

the maestro's third album was subject to some regional alterations. the european and u.s. pressing differed in order of the songs and even in tracklist itself ('spiders' for europe and 'slow down' for america).

technically i already have both versions, because my japanese lp was pressed according to the u.s. pressing, but when i came across this beauty for cheap on the bay, i couldn't possibly say no. if my information is correct this is a u.s. first press on cbs associated records. 1983.

terror - the damned, the shamed

the new terror album 'still suffer' served as a reminder that i was still missing a proper vinyl release of this 2008 terror classic. had this one on the reaper records picture disc release but sold it because of my dislike for the format. since then there was a strength records re-issue for the tenth anniversary in 2018, which i never picked up a copy of, and this latest 2023 re-issue on arising empire.

as we are in 2026, it took me another three years but now it has finally happened. the album hasn't lost one bit of its raw energy and aged really well. 300 copies pressed on clear blue vinyl. arising empire. 2023.

terror - still suffer

usually i lose interest in long living bands the more records they release. in most cases the energy cannot be maintained over the years. but there is always an exception to the rule. enter terror from los angeles.

almost 25 years into their existence and with their ninth full length up their sleeves, scott vogel and the gang sounds as pissed as in year one and even better. best hardcore record of 2026 so far.

with a whopping 5.350 copies of this beautiful laguna eco mix vinyl pressed, you can hardly speak of a limitation. flatspot records. 2026.

until the end - let the world burn

checking my other two until the end records and their according posts on this blog, i realised that i wanted this 7" for 13 years at least. well, good things come to those who wait.

i included my cd version in the pictures. that one has quite a different order of the songs and two extra tracks ('life on a lie' and 'where do we stand now'). 200 copies made. think fast! records. 2003.

sheer terror - just can't hate enough

was looking through my sheer terror vinyl records the other day and realised, apart from 'standing up for falling down' there aren't any - which is pathetic, really. so, i hit up vinylpladen.de and ordered this sweet pressing of the band's debut album from 1989. black/blue smash vinyl re-issue out of 300 copies. blackout! and dead city records. 2024.

walls of jericho - with devils amongst us all

a blast from the past. had this record on cd back then and i fondly remember a few shows of the band i witnessed around 2005-2007. they had such a great stage energy and kandace always had the crowd hanging on every word she was saying. got this slick looking pressing via merchpit.com. 600 copies pressed on gold/red split vinyl. trustkill records. 2006/2025.

motörhead - s/t

the band's debut, wich actually wasn't their debut ("on parole" was recorded earlier but got shelved by the then label because they didn't believe in it). motörhead re-recorded a bunch of songs of said shelved album and added a few new ones for this chiswick records release. this is the third german pressing with censored cover art (removal of the nazi cross), tonearm centre labels and many typos on the back cover ('kilminster', 'viborator' and such). chiswick records. 1977/1978.

motörhead - 1916

the band's major label album, though it wasn't as commercially successful as band and label hoped it to be. it's a pretty good listen, anyway. found this copy for a good price in top class condition. even the little tour promo flyer is still intact. epic records. 1991.

50 lions - new reality

one of my favourite hardcore bands are back and it completely passed me by. already released last year, i stumbled upon it browsing the merchpit.com vinyl section. it goes without saying that i ordered right away. the aussie boys delivered properly here. crushing metallic hardcore with a few hip hop parts sneaked in. fingers crossed for a european tour. 100 copies made on clear red and as a european exclusive pressing. last ride records. 2025.

enemy ground - death mask

enemy ground was a dutch hardcore band active during a prolific time of european hardcore - the 00's. this is a compilation of the band's two releases 'insufficient evidence' from 2005 and 'in memory of them all' from 2007. i had the cd's back then and stumbled upon this release just a few weeks ago. thanks to merchpit.com, i finally can dive back into the discography of this much forgotten band. 50 copies pressed on dark green vinyl. re-ignition records. 2023.

motörhead - another perfect day

been on the search for a copy in a decent shape, complete with printed dust sleeve and for a reasonable price for quite a while. here it finally is, a german bronze records pressing from 1983. former thin lizzy guitarist brian robertson definitely left his mark on the sixth motörhead studio album. i really do enjoy it.

ozzy osbourne - kansas city 1986 (live bootleg)

a live bootleg of an ozzy show, sourced from a radio broadcast back in 1986. their are numerous ozzy live boots around and by no means i'm going to try to collect them. but given the chance and good price, i'll snatch up one or two. got this on amazon, of all places. this one sounds really good.

converge - love is not enough

one of my favourite bands return with a slap to the face in the best possible sense. that's what it felt like after i spun 'love is not enough' for the first time. i didn't expect them to release such a heavy, fast and gritty album again, to be honest.

reminds me a lot of 'axe to fall'. the presentation is top notch as well. 'fallen angel' vinyl comes with lp-sized booklet. deathwish inc. epitaph records. 2026.

biohazard - divided we fall

the new biohazard album is a pretty good listen. the guys are back in the original line-up and it shows. maybe they sound like they're from another time but if you love their nineties stuff, you'll inevitebly find yourself nodding along to the beat.

the pressing itself is shit, though. surface noise throughout the entirety of the record and flawed runout grooves (the needle scratches over the centre labels on both sides). shame on you, pressing plant! 500 copies on black/orange corona vinyl. blkIIblk records. 2025.

ozzy osbourne - no more tears (og pressing)

ozzy's first six full length releases are all pure magic, if you ask me. but two of them stand out due to their musical impact on ozzy's career and rock 'n' roll music in general. his solo debut 'blizzard of ozz' is one of them and the other one is the hit monster 'no more tears' from 1991. this album is the peak of the band's commercial success.

because of the decline of vinyl throughout the nineties and lower pressing quantities, it has become difficult to obtain og copies. after being on the hunt for a moderate priced copy for quite some time, i finally managed to bag one for under fifty bucks. european pressing on epic records. 1991.

ozzy osbourne - mama, i'm coming home (ballads e.p.)

a single 12" release that also features the at the time unreleased 'don't blame me' from the 'no more tears' recording sessions and - on the b-side - 'time after time' and 'goodbye to romance' (from 'blizzard of ozz').

the sleeve is more of a giant poster which, when unfolded, shows a picture of the 1991 band. pretty cool release in my book. epic records. 1991.

ozzy osbourne - no rest for the wicked (more 80's pressings)

another two copies of ozzy's fifth solo full length. the one on the left is a european first pressing and the one on the right is a legit first press copy from the former country of yugoslavia. pretty cool item from a time long gone. epic records. 1988.

fear factory - concrete

a lovely colour re-issue of fear factory's first full length recording, which was shelved back in the early 90's due to legal issues. 'soul of a new machine' became their official debut, but roadrunner acquired the rights and released it in 2002, after the band's first break-up. this is the 'decepticons' pressing out of 300 copies by real gone music. 2026.

ozzy osbourne - the ultimate sin (more 80's pressings)

bought these two pressings rather cheap with damages like seam-splits and sticker residues, which i were able to repair or remove respectively.

the copy on the left is one of quite a few variations which were produced upon time of release and the copy on the right is a european re-issue likely from 1987 or 1988. it was part of the cbs/sony 'nice price' campaign and came with an ad sheet. epic records/sony music.

ozzy osbourne - diary of a madman (first pressing)

for the first two albums ozzy's solo band was under contract at jet records from england. later pressings were issued by epic records and as i only had one of those copies, i was happy to track down an european first pressing. jet records. 1981.

ozzy osbourne - blizzard of ozz (og pressings)

since i only had a re-issue copy of ozzy's groundbreaking solo debut, i was on the look out for an 80's copy. it became real fun to chase down reasonable priced copies and so i ended up buying three of them over the course of a few months.

the two copies in the upper and lower left corner are jet european first pressings and basically the same (apart from the cool sticker on the front of the upper copy). the one on the right is an re-issue from 1987 on epic records, as they bought the jet records back catalogue of ozzy's recordings, when he moved labels for 'bark at the moon'. jet records, epic records. 1980/1987.
