the only band i know which has two albums named exactly the same - after theirselves. this post is about the first one ;-) the band's debut from 2000 severely lacked the vinyl treatment until late 2020. at first it seemed like an u.s. release only but amazon germany carried a few copies and i was there to open my wallet. would have liked the og cover better but beggars can't be choosers.

contrarian - polemic
when willowtip put up "only time will tell" for pre-order, they offered a special bundle with the aforementioned record and contrarian's first album "polemic" for the first time on vinyl. of course, i couldn't say no as it would leave me with only one lp to get ("to percieve is to suffer"). "polemic" is not as focused as succeeding albums but still a great listen. 200 copies pressed, originally released in 2015.
contrarian - only time will tell
the new contrarian record "only time will tell" was highly anticipated by me last year and it turned out to be just the awesome progressive death metal album i hoped for. full of solos, weird time signatures, inhuman drum fills, fretless bass play and riffs for days. love the vinyl colour as well which is limited to 200 copies and released by willowtip records.
sanction - with blood...
i loved sanction's debut full length "broken in refraction" but still didn't come around to get a copy of "the infringement of god's plan" (shame on me), so when i was browsing through my insta feed and saw a copy of this right, i was all eyes. it's a compilation of their first e.p. "with blood left uncleansed" and their two song contribution to a split with vatican and iron curtain. great stuff right here! this is the eu version sold by britons from the coming strife records and released through daze records from the states.
krypts - unending degradation
krypts might be my favourite death/doom metal band right now. their approach to the genre is so deliciously dark and powerful and all their albums are a quite unique trip through the deep chasm of the human psyche. second hand prices fo their first album on me saco un ojo records are usually out of my range. fortunately i could score this sucker from a reasonable seller from the u.k. this debut is good shit! second press, originally released in 2013.
death - human (relapse colour re-press)
"human" is my favourite death album, therefore i wanted to have several formats of it. got an og vinyl pressing, cassette and cd copy. i actually wanted to leave it at that but when i saw those lovely pinwheel vinyl re-pressings by relapse records, i couldn't possibly say no to the "human" edition. looks super lovely!
